About the Naked-Air Flight

So tell me... how did the the first and only Naked-Air flight go last year?
It was quite a history making event; that's for sure! We had a wonderful time and apparently many of the passengers on last years inaugural flight did too as many of them are already booked for this year. Read a full report and see our photo album from last years flight.

Who came up with this idea?
The clients and owners of Castaways Travel are the ones responsible for this flight. Castaways Travel is a Texas based Travel agency that specializes in providing clothing optional vacations and cruises worldwide. In the normal course of its business Castaways Travel is always searching for new and exciting adventures and venues for travelers that would like to experience some or all of their vacation without clothing.

Castaways had been working with the management of the El Dorado Resort for some time to host a nude week. Once those plans were finalized... ideas for this unique way to get there were born. Last year's inaugural Naked-Air flight and nude week were a tremendous success.

For more information on Castaways Travel, the company, the principals, and the clothing optional vacations and cruises they offer... please check out the Castaways Travel Website.

Did everyone have to get naked before they got on the plane?
NO, because everybody knows that it's way too cold in the terminal building.

Seriously... the basic rules were that all passengers did the check-in, went to the gate, boarded the plane just like any other flight. It's only after the plane took off and reached cruising altitude that the rules changed. Once cruising altitude was reached all the passengers were then free to get out of their clothing.

So what about Hygiene and things like that?
If you have ever been to a nudist or naturist resort or gathering, you would know that the one item that you are to have with you at all times, is a towel to sit on. This flight was no different. We provided special commemorative towels for that purpose, We required those towels (or our clients own towels) to be used at all times.

What about the flight crew and attendants... were they naked too?
No... they can't be. The pilots and the flight crew will remain dressed as they always do. We need to remember that the flight crew and attendants have a serious job to do... and that's to get us to our destination safely.

Hot coffee on a nude flight? Ouch...!
Ouch is right! For that reason we did not offer hot beverages on the flight, but we did have appropriate snacks and beverage service for the time of day that we traveled.

What about privacy?
Our clients privacy was the MOST important issue to us. All of the attention and publicity we got on this venture, while positive in one way, could have caused some privacy concerns so we took steps to insure confidentiality. We did not identify the actual flight times publicly nor did we allow the flight crew, airline or passengers to be identified. Our clients privacy is our main concern. As with all of our clientele and trips, we make every effort to insure that our clients personal identity is protected.

Hey... everyone was naked... hmmm... could they do anything we want?
The Naked-Air nude flight was exactly what it were advertised as... a chance to fly nude and make a little history in the process. The flight was a lot of fun to be sure... but any sexually suggestive behavior or advances to any other passengers would have been inappropriate for this flight, and absolutely forbidden. This rule was well known by all of our passengers in advance of booking would have been strictly enforced, if necessary... but it wasn't. Nudists are nude... not lewd!

So how much did it cost to fly butt naked?
The flight was $499 per person

Air or other transportation from our clients home cities to Miami was extra as was the nude week in Mexico.

About the Castaways Travel Nude Week

Did all the passengers on the nude flight join you for your nude week?
They weren't required to... but we're happy they all did.

So just exactly what is a Castaways Travel Nude Week?
A Castaways Travel May Nude Week is a time set aside at a resort for total nude use by our guests. Most of the time, the resorts we choose are not nudist resorts and nude use is not allowed except for our special nude week.

In 2003 we did nude weeks in Curacao at the Sunset Waters Resort. The Sunset Waters does have a traditional nude beach but usually they do not allow nudity in the main resort and dining areas... except for when we are there.

The nude week in conjunction with the first Naked-Air flight was at the El Dorado Resort & Spa which usually does not allow any nude activities... we have another nude week scheduled there for May 2004.

2003 Nude week activities also spilled over to the El Dorado's sister resort... Hidden Beach Resort (normally nude all the time) which we also took completely over.

Hidden Beach is self contained, for adult singles and couples, where you can go nude ALL the time (52 weeks a year... 24 hours a day).
